Episode 60 - Beebe, Arkansas Blackbird Deaths

We have something a little different for you this week. On New Year’s Day 2011, an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 red-winged blackbirds fell from the sky in Beebe, Arkansas. There was no shortage of theories as to what caused this troubling event. Officials claim it was due to blunt force trauma via fireworks…..but perhaps it was something more! We say that because just days prior 83,000 fish showed up dead in a nearby body of water. Stranger yet, on NYE of the following year, the SAME thing happened!! On 8/16/42, US Navy Blimp L-8 took off from Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay on a routine mission to look for Japanese submarines in the Pacific Ocean. The blimp began to descend and proceeded to crashed into a home in Daly City. What’s even crazier?? The two man crew was nowhere to be found? They simply vanished. How could this be? In April of 2010, a woman named Karin Catherine Waldegrave joined Facebook. At first things seemed somewhat normal but that would soon change. Karin’s posted began to read like that of a truly deranged person. She began to have full conversations with herself!! Literally, hundreds of comments every hour....from just one person. You guessed it....Karin herself! Her profile and posts defy explanation to this very day. In fact, people still wonder if Karin’s page was even written by a real person. Hold on tight with this one!

This week Chris and I head to Portland, Oregon to discuss Polybius. Is Polybius a real 1980's arcade game or a bizarre urban legend? We say urban legend because there is no actual evidence that this game ever actually existed! Yet others, claim to not only have played it, but became victims of the game’s manipulative powers. The legend describes the game as part of a government-run crowdsourced psychology experiment. Hold on tight, this is an interesting one!

Episode 54 - Escape from Alcatraz

No one has ever successfully escaped from Alcatraz......or have they? This week we head back to 1962 to examine the boldest prison escape attempt in history. On June 11, 1962, 3 prisoners made it out of the prison and sailed away into the freezing waters of the San Francisco Bay in a makeshift raft. They were never seen or heard from again. No remains were ever found. However, this case is still open and new clues continue to emerge.

We’re covering my favorite topic this week....time travel! More specifically, we’ll be discussing the puzzling case of supposed time traveler, John Titor. In 2000, Titor, claiming to be a traveler from 2036, began appearing on online message boards. His commentary made it on to Art Bell’s Coast To Coast AM. Titor seemed to have a lot of info that he shouldn’t have had! He spoke of a very dark future and his attempts to change that fate. Time traveler or hoax?! Tune in and decide for yourself.

Episode 51 "The Hands Resist Him" - The Haunted eBay Painting

We have a fun one for you this week. The painting, entitled “The Hands Resist Him” is said to be haunted. Apparently, a number of people that has come into contact with it have gotten extremely. Some even reportedly died. This infamous painting went missing for nearly 30 years until it was found in an abandoned building. It eventually showed up for sale on eBay! Fact or fiction??
